UPVC (Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride)
UPVC is a lightweight, versatile, rigid plastic that can be used for installations above and below ground because it is resistant to weathering. It is the most used plastic, is odourless and has excellent chemical resistance.
This plastic is commonly used by the water industry for portable water. It is a smooth plastic which eliminates the build-up of scale and gives excellent flow qualities.
UPVC has poor heat stability and is only suitable for temperatures from 0°C to 60°C, it can withstand a various range of pressures.
CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride)
CPVC is more flexible than UPVC and has been modified to handle high temperatures of hot, corrosive liquids of up to 100°C. CPVC is resistant to many strong acids and caustics and is very durable.
It can maintain the temperature of fluids with minimal insulation and its low thermal conductivity reduces condensation.
CPVC can become brittle and cannot withstand very high temperatures.
